Lydia Shelton graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. She loves problem solving and paying attention to the little details, so Chemistry was a natural choice for her major, and she opted to continue her math studies with Calculus II, Calculus III, Mathematical Proofs, and Linear Algebra.

During college, Lydia began tutoring chemistry and math to both high schoolers and other college students. She enjoys finding the concepts that a student is struggling with and working with the student individually to explain concepts in an understandable way! Utilizing the Socratic method, Lydia asks her students questions, so that they are prompted to think and reason through problems instead of simply learning a process to follow.

The daughter of Liberty Tutorials instructor Karena Flynn, Lydia completed every Liberty Tutorials math class in high school, earning 4 in the AP Calculus AB test and a 790/800 in the math section of the SAT. She appreciates how Liberty Tutorials classes focus on learning logic and applying analytical skills, not just on getting the answer right.
